Are you optimistic or pessimistic about the future of the USA Economy?
Looking back, I remember immigrating to the USA as a political refugee from Cuba in 1980, remember my mother making a little bit of money at the factories in Secacus, NJ and buying a few bags of food with just 40 or 50 dollars. I remember going out to clubs in NYC with my wallet full of money and walked across Studio 54 when they opened again in the 80’s. Back on those days my diet was Lobsters and Shrimps, my father opened a Fish Market in New Jersey and saved over 100,000 in a few years, and travel around the world. I’m sure that many people around the States experience the same good economy condictions that we had from around 1984 to 1990 when the country headed for reseccion. I was extremely foolish to think that good times will never last, don’t want to be pessimistic but good times will never return in the ways that we saw in the 60’s 70’s and 80’s, the economy was also strong from 93 to 2000. The statistic acording to Econmist says that the USA Economy went downhill since 1976, these are the facts, since 1976 the economy in the States is down. Mr. Stiglitz, a great Economist said that the War in Iraq damaged the USA economy, of course, no country in the world has money to spend in War, plains, weapons and everything else. In 1980 employees worked 40 hrs a week, now is 50 hrs per week, american employees are slaves, working with just a few hours of vacation a year. Don’t mean to be pessimistic, but good times will never return, unfortunally. Do you agree?

I agree with you…but what I was trying to say is that we will never see in the future the standard of living that we experienced in the 50,s, 60’s 70’s and 80’s, the 90’s were good but not better than previous years.
