What is the correct size for emailing pictures?

I have to send an email with 6 pictures. I need to know what size to make them acceptable to send so they aren’t too big to receive.

i usually try to keep each picture under 100kb coz not everyone has fast internet. or just go to microsoft office picture manager and compress them to document size. then you can still view em at a reasonable size.

reduce to 72 dpi, and make the dimensions at least 1000 pixels in width with height proportionate.

at the very least 640×480 larger if you can fit them in. the bigger the better

It depends on the connection they have. Dial up friends will like small under one meg total, broadband 10 megs total

Through mailings and such I have been informed around 240kb is a good size to mail pictures. As far as downloading them and printing them, they should be much higher because when a person tries to make them bigger at 240kb, they become very pixilated and unable to see. The bigger the better is true if you are wanting to print them. If you are just sending them, lower is better because the person views them in good quality even at a lower image size. Keep in mind, some people have dial-up and the download time is slow for them. Have fun with pictures. Keep the original as large as your computer will allow.
